‘Straight from the heart and fighting for justice’

Driven by his passion for enterprise, Guido de Wit formed his own law firm in 2014, aimed at entrepreneurs. ‘Entrepreneurs are inventive, driven and willing to stick their neck out. That intrigues me, as a lawyer and as a person. That’s why I am happy to fight for their interests and operate on the basis of my genuine intention to protect entrepreneurs against legal conflicts, as well as to defend them or to attack on their behalf when necessary. I have great admiration for the lawyer Robert Kennedy and in particular, for his passionate fight for justice. I myself studied law on the basis of the same feeling, which still hasn’t diminished.’

The Guido de Wit law firm works primarily for larger (internationally-oriented) companies and family businesses. ‘If an entrepreneur has an ambition to raise their business to a higher level, we are the right law firm for them. We act as a partner who will work with them to professionalise their organisation and design it in a solid way. Through our specialisation purely on company law and all related fields of law, we offer top legal quality in that field and a personal and committed atmosphere. I see it as a compliment if entrepreneurs tell me “I’ve got something really difficult now, that’s why I’ve come to you.” That is recognition of our quality. We enjoy cases that test our thinking to the limits, the real brain-teasers. We work on these in “triangles”: there is always a team of three colleagues that considers a case. This is quite unique, for traditional lawyers still often work alone. We prefer to work as a team on the strategy and the tactics to be used. Success is the result of teamwork in which you get the best out of each other.’

Corporate social responsibility starts with a solid base, the starting point of which consists of clear agreements, good contracts and clear procedures. ‘As an entrepreneur, you want to reduce risks, preferably to minimise them. But court action cannot always be avoided. In that case too, it is wise to be there. Our strength lies in seeking the breadth in a case, because this is precisely where you can make a difference. In a broad context, you win a case. My strength lies in creativity and in operating at the cutting edge. In carrying on thinking until you find the right opening and in ensuring that we are always a step ahead. Creative but just, because I do not want to, cannot and never will renounce my principles. My motto is “Straight from the heart”.’
