Sjoerd Postma

Lawyer

‘These young people give me energy and with my experience, I give something extra.’

A doyen. You could certainly call Sjoerd Postma that. A man with a long track record, a great deal of experience, knowledge and insight. As a tutor, he once taught Guido de Wit the fine points of the legal profession. But now he works together with his former student and together with the other team members, they get their teeth into the most varied range of cases. ‘I get on well with Guido and this office is a fine environment in which to work.’

He gives sound and reliable advice, and in court, he stands his ground. Right? ‘Yes, absolutely, that’s entirely right. I prefer not to be in court, but if it’s necessary, that’s fine too. In the past, Guido and I have already handled substantial cases together, such as a number of major bankruptcies, extensive acquisitions and complex proceedings. We were a good team and now we are that again. He asked me to follow up our successful partnership and now I form part of this fine team. I see it as a wonderful challenge. These young people give me energy and with my experience, I give something extra.’

Postma is happy to study cases in depth, but is still more interested in the world of the entrepreneur in person. ‘By talking to them about their business, you often get a much clearer picture of the problem and can place a case in the right context’, says Postma, who hails from Friesland. ‘I enjoy listening to the entrepreneur’s story. That fascinates me. After all, it’s not just about legal language, but also about coaching. With such an approach, you get far more than what you initially come for.’

‘My main motive? Expertise and integrity. And I find that here. I know that it’s the same for Guido and he has now become a real entrepreneur. I feel good in that climate, certainly in combination with the cases, which are challenging and interesting. That is the deeper drive and the reason why I came to work here. It’s great that clients appreciate our way of working. There is therefore apparently a need for enterprising lawyers who perform their work with expert skills and stand for a business with integrity.’
